Cake-smashing engagement session + sweet details

"If we aren’t having fun, we aren’t doing it right. Every session I do has to have some element of fun. Whether it’s laughing at my awkward dancing or a paint fight, fun is absolute. It’s even in my contract!

But some ideas may sound a little crazy to some people. I didn’t know what to expect when I asked Erin her thoughts about ending her and Taylor’s engagement session with a food fight. Much to my excitement she was totally thrilled to be creative and do something different.

Since they are getting married next January at the Grouse Mountain Lodge, we knew that was the perfect spot for these pictures. Then I ran my idea by the amazing ladies at Empress Tents and Events and the cake baker straight from Heaven, Miss PattiCakes and our dream team was complete!

We started our session much like any engagement session. There were lots of hugs, a little bit of kissing and even a slight snafu with a frozen Whitefish Lake starting to thaw. Then we made our way back to Grouse where the fun ensued.

It started innocent and ended with a food fight to end all food fights. I may be partial to the bride, but I’m pretty sure Erin won (sorry Taylor). If we had this much fun at the engagement session, can you imagine the wedding!? I. Can’t. Wait." -Kelly Kirksey Photography
