Courtney & Colter's Story

We currently live in Hartford, Wisconsin, where I (Courtney) have lived my whole life. Colter was born and raised in the little town of Eureka, Montana. In the fall of 2016, Colter moved to Wisconsin for an apprenticeship with an electric utility company, and he just so happened to work with a close friend of mine. My friend introduced Colter to our group of mutual friends and brought him around a couple of times to a few bonfires. We eventually grew an interest in one another and after talking for a couple of months, we started dating. About seven amazing months later, we decided to go fishing, which is one of our favorite things to do together. We headed out to this little lake where I spent time during my younger years and still do. Colter said he had a new fishing lure for me to try out and was tying it on the line. Finally, he gave me the pole and I tried casting it out. I realized at the end of the fishing rod was this beautiful ring! I reeled it in, he took it off and got down on one knee. We even had a little audience on a kayak behind us clapping, ha! It was a moment we will never forget and will cherish for the rest of our lives.

The first time he ever took me to Montana was to meet his family. I absolutely fell in love. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. I loved it so much that there was no other option than to get married there! We decided to have the wedding in his beautiful hometown. It will be an intimate gathering with our closest friends and family.

I never pictured myself moving or living in any other state than Wisconsin, but after visiting Montana I knew I could definitely see myself there. Colter has shown me that it doesn’t matter where you are, but it’s who you’re with that matters. In a couple of years, we are very excited to move and make Montana our home!
